White Sauce

Ingredients

  • For cheese sauce:
  • 2 Tbs. butter
  • 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. dry mustard
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 3 1/2 c. skim milk
  • 1/2 c. grated cheese (white American velveeta, cheddar or other favorite)

Preparation

Step 1

Melt butter in a pan. Add flour, salt, dry mustard and pepper. Stir to combine until smooth. Add milk, bring to a boil; reduce heat to medium and cook, stirring constantly until smooth and thickened. Remove from heat.

For cheese sauce (for mac 'n' cheese): stir in cheese until melted.
