Orange Cocoa Sandies

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/4 cups confectioners' sugar, divided
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa
  • 1 cup finely chopped pecans
  • 1 teaspoon orange extract

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 400 degree.

In large bowl, beat butter, flour, 1 cup confectioners' sugar, cocoa, pecans, and extract for 2 to 3 minutes, or until well blended.

Drop by teaspoonfuls about 1 inch apart onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until set. Allow to cool slightly then dust with remaining 1/4 cup confectioners' sugar. Serve or store in airtight container until ready to serve.

Notes:

For traditional pecan sandies, leave out cocoa, change orange extract to vanilla, and increase flour to 2 cups.
