Ingredients

  • 1/4 c. Butter
  • 1/2 c. Brown sugar (packed)
  • 1 can sliced pineapples (9ounces) well drained
  • 7 maraschino cherries
  • Cake batter
  • 1 1/4 c. All purpose flour
  • 1 c. Sugar
  • 1 1/2 t. Bakingpowder
  • 1/2 t. salt
  • 3/4 c. Milk
  • 1/3 c. shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 1 t. Vanilla

Preparation

Step 1

Heat oven to 350 . Melt butter over low heat in round 9 in. Layer pan. Sprinkle brown sugar evenly over butter. Place pineapple slice in center of pan ,arrange remaining slices around the outside edge of pan. Place cherries in center of each pineapple.

Prepare cake batter. Measure all ingredients into mixer bowl.blend 1 min on low speed,scraping bowl constantly. Beat 3 min.at high speed scraping bowl occasionally. Pour cake over pineapples.

Bake about 45 min. Or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Invert onto plate, leave pan on cake a few min. Serve warm.
