Beef Satay with Spicy Szechwan Sauce

Ingredients

  • Marinade:
  • 1 lb thinly sliced steak
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tbs honey
  • 1 tsp chili flakes
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • Szechwan Sauce:
  • 6 tbs butter
  • 1 tbs minced garlic
  • 1 green onion, minced
  • 1 cup chicken stock
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tsp chili flakes

Preparation

Step 1

Cut steak into thin strips. Skewer and arrange in a large baking pan.

Combine all marinade ingredients and pour over steak, turning to coat all sides. Allow to marinate at room temp for 15 minutes.

In a small pan melt 2 tbs butter. Add garlic and green onion and saute about 2 minutes. Add stock, soy sauce and pepper flakes and cook 2 minutes longer.

Strain into a clean pan and whisk in remaining butter. Keep warm.

Grill skewers until medium-rare, about 1 minute per side.

Pour sauce in a small bowl and serve with skewers.
