Ingredients

    tsp baking soda

  • 1

    cup boiling water

  • 1

    cup unsulphured molasses

  • 2

    large eggs, lightly beaten

  • 1/2

    cup firmly packed brown sugar

  • 2

    9" Pie Shells

  • 2

    cups all purpose flour

  • 3/4

    cup firmly packed brown sugar

  • 1/4

    cup butter or margarine

Directions

1) Combine soda and boiling water. Set aside. 2) Combine molasses, eggs and 1/2 cup brown sugar in a med bowl; gradually stir in soda mixture. Pour evenly into pie shells. Set aside. 3) Combine flour and 3/4 cup brown sugar; cut in butter with a pastry blender until mixture is crumbly. Sprinkle evenly over filling. 4) Bake in a preheated 400 degree F oven for 10 mins. Reduce temperature to 350 degrees F; bake 25 to 30 mins or until knife inserted in center comes out clean.
