Fresh Strawberry Sauce

  • 1 pint strawberries, halved or quartered depending on size
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • pinch sea salt
  • 1 or 2 grinds of fresh black pepper
  • 1 tsp. vanilla



Step 1

Place strawberries, sugar, salt and pepper in a saucepan. Bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally for 10-15 minutes until a syrup develops. As it simmers break up some of the strawberries with a wooden spoon until desired consistency is reached. Remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla. Cool to room temperature and refrigerate. Serve chilled or warm over ice cream, waffles or pancakes.
