Ingredients
- 6 qts. sliced med. cucumbers
- 6 onions
- 3/4 cup salt
- 1 1/2 qts. cider vinegar
- 6 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup mustard seed
- 1 T. celery seed
- 1 T. tumeric (for coloring)
Preparation
Step 1
Combine first 3 ingredients and allow to stand 3 hours.
Combine seasonings and vinegar and boil. Add cucumbers and onion. Heat to simmering and pack hot. Do not boil. (Makes pickles salty)
Pack and seal almost as soon as simmering starts. (7-15 minutes)
8 pints.
