Ingredients

  • 6 Large eggs
  • 1 1/2 Cups milk
  • 1 Cup half and half
  • 1 1/4 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 Loaf french bread cut in 1 inch slices diagonally
  • 1/4 Cup softened margarine or butter
  • 1/2 Cup firmly packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 Cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 Tbsp. light corn syrup

Step 1

Spray a large baking pan with vegtable cooking spray in medium bowl, combine eggs, milk, cream, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Place bread in baking dish 8 x 12 in a single layer with sides touching. Pour egg-milk mixture over bread, cover and refrigerate overnight. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a small bowl combine butter, brown sugar and cornsyrup. Spread evenly over bread and sprinkle walnuts on top. Bake 40 minutes or until puffed and golden. Yields: 6-8 servings.
