Ingredients
- 19 cups of air popped popcorn
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup light corn syrup
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp almond extract
- 1 cup maraschino cherries, cut into quarters
- 1/2 c. blanched, whole almonds toasted
- 1 tsp. vinegar
Preparation
Step 1
1. Keep popcorn warm in a 300 degree oven.
2. In med saucepan combine sugar, water, corn syrup, vinegar and salt. Bring to a boil, clip candy thermometer to pan and cook syrup to 250 degrees hard ball stage.
3. remove sauce pan from heat, quickly stir in almond extract. Scatter cherries and almonds over popcorn slowly pour syrup over all of it.
4. Toss lightly to coat. Separate into clusters with fork after cool
