Ingredients
- 8 egg whites
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp cream of tartar
- 1/2 c white sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- 1 c whipping cream
- 3 c fresh sliced fruit
Preparation
Step 1
Make at night.
Preheat oven to 475 F
Beat together egg whites,salt and cream of tartar until stiff
Gradually add sugar 1 Tbsp at a time
Thoroughly beat
When thick,white and glossy add vanilla and lemon juice
Spread meringue on foil covered cookie sheet to make a wreath shape
Place in oven and close door
Turn off the heat. DO NOT OPEN THE DOOR
Leave overnight
Next day, whip cream
Put meringue on serving platter
Cover with cream and fresh fruit
