Ingredients

  • 3/4 Cup All Purpose Flour
  • 3/4 Cup Yellow Cornmeal
  • 1 1/2 Tablespoons Sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon Baking Powder
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Pepper
  • 3/4 Cup Milk
  • 1 Egg
  • 2 Tablespoons (1/3 stick) butter, melted

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 400º F. Butter 8-inch square pan with 2-inch-high sides. Mix together first 6 ingredients in large bowl. Mix milk with egg and melted butter in small bowl. Pour milk mixture over dry ingredients and stir just until moistened; do not over mix. Spoon batter into prepared pan. Bake corn bread until light brown and tester inserted into center comes out clean, about 15 minutes. Cool corn bread in pan.
