Ingredients

  • (Optional: 1/2 lb. salt pork, cut in slices. Fry in kettle reserving 2 Tbsp. of fat)
  • 1 1/2 lbs. hamburg (if not making meatballs)
  • 2 lrg cans whole tomatoes, chopped w/ juice
  • 3 small cans tomato paste plus 2 cans water
  • 1 med. size can tomato sauce
  • 2 lrg onions, chopped
  • 1 lrg green pepper, chopped
  • 1/8 tsp dried red pepper flakes
  • 1/8 tsp oregano
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1/2 tsp basil
  • 2 beef bouillon cubes
  • 1 lrg bay leaf
  • salt and pepper, to taste

Preparation

Step 1

If not making meat balls you may add the 1 1/2 lbs hamburg; brown until no longer pink.

Add all ingredients together in cook pot. Bring to slow boil. Simmer till done.
