CHELSEA'S CHOCO-NUTTY CHRUNCH BARS

Ingredients

  • Fudge Frosting:
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 1 cup margarine
  • 1 can (13 1/2 oz.) evaporated milk
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped M&M's or other chocolate covered peanut candy
  • 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1/4 cup cocoa
  • 1/4 cup corn oil margarine
  • 3 Tablespoons boiling water
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Frosting:

In a medium bowl, combine sugar and cocoa. Add margarine, boiling water and vanilla. Beat on low speed until well blended and smooth. Beat on medium speed one additional minute. Cool.

Crunch bar mix:

In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar and cocoa; cut in margarine until crumbly. Press firmly on bottom of lightly greased 13" X 9" baking pan. Bake for 15 minutes.

In a medium bowl, combine evaporated milk, egg and vanilla; mix well. Stir in chopped candy. Spread evenly over baked crust. Bake 25 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool.


Frost with fudge frosting. Cut into bars and store in refrigerator.
