Double-Kick Chili

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef or pork
  • 1 Tbsp. Mexican seasonings or hot chili powder
  • 2 tsp. ground cumin
  • 2 tsp. garlic salt
  • 1 14 1/2-ounce can chili-style or diced tomatoes and green chilies
  • 1 cup strong brewed or instant coffee
  • 1 16-ounce can red or pinto beans, drained
  • 1/2 cup broken tortilla chips
  • Hot sauce

Preparation

Step 1

Cook meat in a large saucepan over medium heat until no longer pink, breaking into pieces with a wooden soon. Pour off drippings.

Add Mexican seasoning, cumin and garlic salt; cook 1 minute.

Add tomatoes and coffee; bring to a simmer. Simmer uncovered 10 minutes. Add beans; simmer uncovered 5 minutes.

Ladle into bowls; top with chips. Serve with hot sauce.
