Ingredients

  • 2 Packages Unflavored Gelatin
  • 1 Cup cold Water
  • 3 Cups Scalded Milk*
  • 1 1/2 Cups Sugar
  • 1 Pint Whipping Cream
  • 1 Box Vanilla Wafers, Crushed
  • 1 Cup Finely Chopped Pecans, Divided into thirds

Preparation

Step 1

Soften the gelatin in 1 cup cold water. Pour dissolved gelatin into hot milk. Add 1 1/2 cups sugar and stir until dissolved. Chill in the refrigerator 1-2 hours until it just begins to set. (Chilling can be speeded up by placing he bowl into a pan of ice water.) Whip cream and fold into chilled mixture.

In the bottom of a 9 X 13 inch pan layer 1 cup finely crumbled vanilla wafers and sprinkle wiht 1/3 of the chopped nuts. Gently spoon one half of the mix on top of the crumbs. Top with 1 cup crumbs and 1/3 of the nuts. Spoon the rest of the milk mixture into the pan. Top what a few vanilla wafer crumbs and he rest of the nuts.

Chill overnight. To serve, cut into squares and spoon into individual dessert dishes.

*Heat milk to just under boiling (about 4 minutes in microwave). Spoon off the film that forms on the top of the milk.
