Ingredients

  • Topping:
  • 1 C. sugar
  • 1 Tbs. cinnamon
  • Cookie Dough:
  • 3 1/2 C. flour
  • 1 Tbs. baking powder
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 3/4 C. butter
  • 2 C. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 Tbs. light corn syrup
  • 2 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 C. dried cherries or cherry flavored dried cranberries,chopped
  • 1/2 C. sliced almonds

Step 1

In a small bowl combiune topping ingredients; set aside. Preheat oven to 375. Stir the first 5 ingredients in a bowl and set aside. In a seperate bowl, cream the buter with a hand mixer; add sugar and incorporate. Continue to mix, adding eggs, corn syrup, and vanilla , mixing thoroughly. Add the mixture to the dry ingredients, adding cherries and almonds last. Wrap and chill dough for 1 hour. if it's sticky and difficult to handle. Roll balls of dough ( about the size of a walnut) and roll into topping mixture to coat. Place on ungreased cookie sheet, about 2 1/2 inches apart. Bake 10-12 mins until the cookies puff slightly and the surface is lightly cracked. Let coola few mins before re,moving and completley cooling on a wire rack.
