Almond Poppyseed Bread

Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tbsp poppy seeds
  • 1 1/2 cups milk (NOT skim milk)
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 1/2 tsp almond extract
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 1/3 cups Mazola Vegetable Plus! Oil Glaze
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp almond extract
  • 2 tbsp butter

Preparation

Step 1

1. Grease and flour 2 loaf pans and preheat oven to 350F. 2. Combine flour, sugar, salt, baking powder and poppy seeds in a large mixing bowl; set aside. In a separate bowl, combine milk, eggs, almond extract, vanilla and oil. 3. Add oil mixture to dry ingredients. Blend at medium-high speed for 1 min. Pour batter into prepared loaf pans. Bake for 50-60 mins or until loaves are light brown in color and toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. 4. To make the glaze, heat sugar, orange juice, vanilla, almond extract and butter to boiling in a small saucepan over medium-high heat. Pour glaze over hot loaves while still hot in the pans. Cool completely in the pans. Remove from pans; cover loaves and let sit overnight before serving.
