Ingredients

  • Beef mixture:
  • Cook 1/2 lb. ground beef, finely chopped onion, seasoning salt, pepper.
  • Dissolve: 1 pkg. Yeast in 1/4 c. lukewarm water
  • Combine in large bowl:
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/3 cup shortening (lard)
  • 3/4 cup scalded milk
  • Cool: to lukewarm by adding 1/2 cup water
  • Blend in: 1 egg and yeast mixture (when yeast and water have been sitting for 10 min and has risen int he cup
  • Add: 4 1/2 cups flour

Preparation

Step 1

Mix until well blended. Place in greased bowl and cover, let rise.

Cut into 4, take 1 of 4th's, cover rest, roll out one of the 4ths very thin. Cut into squares or rectangles, spoon on 1 tbsp fried beef. Pinch ends very tight, then deep fry.

Note: When you mix the yeast in a cup with a bit of water, let it sit about 10 minutes before adding it to the flour mixture.
