Ingredients
- 2 slices bacon, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 small green pepper, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup dark molasses
- 1/4 cup packed dark brown sugar
- 1 tbsp dry mustard
- Salt
- 3 cans (15 to 16 oz each) pinto beans, rinsed and drained
Preparation
Step 1
In 3-quart saucepan, cook bacon, onion, and pepper over medium heat 8 to 10 minutes or until vegetables are lightly browned and almost tender, stirring occasionally. Stir in ketchup, molasses, sugar, mustard, and 1/4 teaspoon salt; cook 2 to 3 minutes to blend flavors, stirring occasionally.
Stir beans into mixture in saucepan. Reduce heat to medium-low and cook, uncovered, 20 minutes or until sauce is thick and syrupy, stirring occasionally.
