Ingredients
- 1 C. mung dal
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. turmeric powder
- 2 tbsp. ghee
- 2 onions, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- 3 cm. (1 inch) piece ginger, finely chopped
- 1/2 tsp. cumin seeds
- 1 tsp. coriander powder
- Chopped coriander leaf
Preparation
Step 1
Wash the dal and leave to soak for an hour.
Drain and boil in a little water with salt and turmeric till soft.
Meanwhile, heat ghee and fry the onion, garlic and ginger till golden.
Stir in the cumin and coriander powder and fry for a few minutes. Add to the dal a few minutes before it is ready.
Serve hot, garnished with the chopped coriander.
Serve with a curry and chapatis.
