CHERRY ALMOND SNOWBALL COOKIES

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/4 cup evaporated milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon rind
  • 1-3/4 cups sifted all-purpose flour
  • 6 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup finely chopped almonds
  • 1/2 lb. candied cherries

Preparation

Step 1

Cream butter, beat in milk a little at a time until all has been taken up by butter. Add lemon rind. Sift flour, sugar and salt, add little at a time to butter mixture. Add nuts, mix well. Flatten dough about 1 teaspoon per cookie in palm of hand. Place cherry on dough, pinch dough to cover it completely. Roll between palms. Place on lightly greased and floured cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 12 minutes. Roll in powdered sugar while warm.
