CHOCOLATE CREME DROPS WITH ICING

Ingredients

  • DROPS
  • 1/2 cup soft shortening
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 squares of unsweetened chocolate (2oz.) melted
  • 1 cup thick sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 3/4 cups sifted flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup nuts (optional)
  • ICING
  • 1 Tablespoon butter
  • 1 square unsweetened chocolate (1 oz.)
  • 3 Tablespoons milk
  • 1 1/2 cup sifted confectioner's sugar

Preparation

Step 1

DROPS

Mix shortening, sugar, eggs and melted unsweetened chocolate together.

Stir in sour cream, vanilla.

In a separate bowl, sift dry ingredients together: flour, soda, baking powder and salt. Stir sifted ingredients into mixture. Place combined mixture in refrigerator and allow to chill for an hour.

After an hour, preheat oven to 400 degrees. Place teaspoon sized drops of mixture on cookie sheet. Bake for 8-10 minutes. Cool.

ICING

Melt butter and unsweetened chocolate over hot water (double boiler). Stir in milk and confectioner's sugar. If needed, thin with cream to make glossy and easy to spread
