Ingredients

  • 2¼ cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 stick butter
  • ½ cup shortening
  • ¾ cup granulated (white) sugar
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 cups pecans

Preparation

Step 1

Combine flour, baking soda and salt in a small bowl and set aside.





Directions
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Beat butter, shortening, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla in a large bowl until creamy. Beat in eggs one at a time. Gradually stir in flour mixture. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts.

Drop by rounded tablespoons onto ungreased baking sheets.

Bake for 9 to 11 minutes until light golden brown. Don’t overbake if you want them to stay soft and chewy. Remove to wire racks to cool.
