Italian Meatball Mini Burgers

Ingredients
- 1/2 sm red or orange pepper
- 1/2 sm red onion
- 8 oz Italian sausage meat-casings removed
- 1/3 C plain dry bread crumbs
- 2 TBSP water
- 1 pkg crescent rolls no seams
- 1 C shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
- 1/4 C loosely packed fresh basil leaves
- 1 can pizza sauce

Preparation
Step 1
1) Preheat oven o 375
2) Finely chop the pepper and onion. Combine the pepper, onion, sausage meat, bread crumbs, 3/4c of the shredded cheese, and water in a bowl. Mix well and set aside.
3) Place dough onto a cutting board, smooth out seams. Slice dough into small discs. Arrange discs of dough onto a baking stone either round or rectangle.
4) Using medium scoop, place one level scoop of the sausage mix onto the disc of dough; flatten with he back side of scoop. Cover with top bun. Bake 15-18min until buns are golden brown & centers of meatballs are no longer pink.
5) Meanwhile corsly shop the basil. Pour pizza sauce into a pan and heat on on a low heat (You can also microwave the sauce) until hot. Stir in the basil.
6) Take the meatballs out, top with last bits of cheese and re-cover with buns. Serve with sauce. Makes 12 servings
