Ingredients
- 1 egg, separated
- 1 cup - confectioners sugar
- 1/2 tsp. - vanilla
- 1/4 tsp. - nutmeg
- Rum
- Brandy
Preparation
Step 1
Beat egg yolk with 1/4 cup sugar until very thick and lemon colored. Mix in vanilla and nutmeg.
Using clean beaters, whip egg whites with remaining conf. sugar until stiff peaks form.
Fold egg yolk mixture into egg white mixture with rubber spatula. Batter will be thick and pasty.
Makes about 1 pt of batter that will hold at room temperature about 2 hours. If any quantity is to be stored in fridge, add some brandy as a preservative and it will keep several days.
To make drinks:
In each 6 oz mug, pour 1 oz dark rum and 1 oz brandy.
add a heaping tbsp of batter. fill mug with boiling water and stir. sprinkle with nutmeg. serve with spoon and enjoy on a cold blustery night by a warm fire! Cheers!
