Home Made Baked Beans

Ingredients

  • 1 lb dry pinto beans
  • 1 tsp. chili powder
  • crushed peppers (to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 3 garlic cloves (cut in half)
  • 2 tbsp. cumin
  • 1 smoked pork chop or smoked bacon
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 4 cups water (or broth and water mixture)
  • Seasoning
  • salt, pepper and garlic powder

Preparation

Step 1

Wash and soak beans overnight, strain and add to pot with 4 cups of water, spices and seasoning.

Chop bacon and brown in a skillet; add to pot with the onions.
Season to taste and boil on high, covered, until beans are tender (about 5 hours)
