- 1 C butter
- 2 C sugar
- 3 C self-rising flour
- 4 eggs
- 1 C milk or buttermilk*
- 1 t baking soda*
- 1 t vanilla extract

Step 1
Preheat oven to 350. In large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy; incorporate flour, one cup at a time. Add eggs, one at a time; then milk and extract. Beat just until combined. Pour into greased, floured baking pan - size and shape is your choice. Bake 35-40 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean.
Note: If using buttermilk, add the baking soda.
