Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup milk

Preparation

Step 1

In a bowl, combine dry ingredients. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in milk. Turn onto a floured board; knead 1 minute. Roll or pat dough to 2-1/2 inch thickness. Cut with a floured 2-1/2 in. biscuit cutter. Place on a greased baking sheet. Bake at 450° for 10-12 min.
