Chocolate Cherry Drops

Chocolate cherry cookies

Ingredients

• 1-1/4 c. butter or margarine, softened
• 2 c. sugar
• 2 eggs
• 2 t. vanilla
• 2-1/2 c. unsifted all-purpose flour
• 3/4 c. unsweetened cocoa
• 1 t. baking soda
• 1 t. salt
• 2 c. chopped, well-drained maraschino cherries
• 1 c. chopped nuts: maraschino cherries or walnut halves, optional

Preparation

Step 1

Cream butter or margarine and sugar in large mixer bowl until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla; beat well. In a separate bowl, combine flour, cocoa, caking soda, and salt; blend into creamed mixture. Stir in chopped cherries and nuts. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Garnish with cherry or walnut halves, if desired. Bake at 350 deg. for 10-12 min. or until set. cool on wire rack.
