- 1
Ingredients
- 10 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 1/4 cups white sugar
- 3/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup AP flour
- 1 package of Oreo (regular stuffed or double stuffed)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (at room temp)
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 3/4 cup white sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 1/4 cups AP flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Preparation
Step 1
You could easily make these with box mix, which is what the original recipe I found calls for, but I took it one step further and made these with my all time favorite rich chocolatly brownie recipe and my favorite chocolate chip cookie dough recipe. The oreo in the middle may seem slightly out of place because you might think it’s going to be this crunchy layer between two super soft and chewy layers, but let me reassure you that it’s not. The oreo kind of soaks up a bit of moisture from the brownie batter and cookie dough and just adds that extra bit of fabulousness.
So basically you’ve got to make these. They will change your life. The first 2 times I made these, I cut them right away to serve them and they kinda fell apart a bit since they were still crazy warm, and that’s totally one way to go. If you’re serving them fresh out of the oven, add a scoop of vanilla ice cream just for another layer of decadence and serve away. If you’re going to let them sit for a few hours, you’ll get a super gorgeous cut square and can grab it and go. Either way, they are awesome.
In a medium sauce pan, melt the butter over medium high heat. Add the sugar and cocoa powder once the butter is melted. Whisk to combine and remove from heat. Add the salt, vanilla and eggs and continuously whisk until the eggs are combined. Add the flour and continue to mix. Set batter aside.
Cream together the butter and sugars in a mixer. Add the eggs and vanilla, making sure to scrape down the sides of the mixing bowl. Add the flour, salt, baking soda and baking powder and mix on low until everything is incorporated. Fold in the chocolate chips. Set dough aside.
Pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees.
Pour the brownie batter on top of the oreo layer and make sure it's evenly layers on top.

Holy wow, these look freaking delicious!! I love the combination of sinful ingredients in this that makes a slutty brownie haha..these are so dangerous, I’m sure I’d eat at least 3 or 4..
they look amazingly delicious, I know when I make them I want to make them again and again….maybe 23 times
OK. Stupid question, for the browning mixture. Your refer to the sugar as ‘white sugar’ so you mean regular granulated sugar? Or “confectioners” sugar which is white?? Just want to clarify…so this can be made correctly. Thank you.
As I looked at this recipe the Other Half came up and looked over my shoulder and asked me when I was making this – so awesome, this will get added to my “make-soon-to-keep-him-happy” list
No, really, I’m just bitter because I’m gluten free and can’t make these. At least not without some extra work.
I saw this this morning and made them today…had to make them today! They are sooooo good, thank you. One thing? I am at 5000 feet so baking is always a bit of guesswork. I usually add some flour and things work fine but this time I tried it as written. They were perfect! But…they took much longer to bake? At 30 minutes the knife was till gooey so I added 7 min. Still gooey so I added 7 more. Still gooey so I added 5 more. Now the tops are nice and firm and the insides still tender and moist? 19 minutes longer?
The same thing happened to mine. I kept adding 5 more minutes each time because the knife kept coming out gooey, so it was more like a total of 50 minutes. I didn’t get to try one though to know how they were since I sent them back to school with my son.
Already shuffling my schedule around in my head in attempt to find time to make these asap…. thank you!
Wowza. I need these in my life, immediately. If only I’d known about them when I went through the worst break-up of my life this past summer…although maybe it’s a good thing that I didn’t…I surely would have eaten the entire pan! Can’t wait to make these!
I needed an ooey-gooey dessert to make for the fellas who have been helping me out at work. This is definitely it!! They look incredible. Double batch you say? I think so!
My bad!! I’ll totally make these again this week!

In the interest of saving time because I have to make salted caramel brownies and cookies tonight too, I was wondering if I could use a brownie mix instead of making the brownie batter from scratch. Think it would work the same?
Hi Jamie! For sure a brownie mix would be perfect! Thanks
I made these this eve and added chopped pecan to the top. Oh dear lord!!! Remind me not to make these while pregnant again!
I have made them for a party tomorrow night but made an extra individual one as there was some brownie mixture left over…!!!!!
Thank you SO much for an alternative to the box-mix-topped version that’s floating around everywhere! I made these this afternoon and they are amazing.
I know this may seem like a stretch, but I wonder if there is any way to make these a vegan treat without tasting off. With some sandwich cookies being vegan, it could be a fun recipe to experiment with! Thanks for the recipe!
a couple of things: i am a serious chocoholic, brownies are my fav dessert, i love oreo double stuff cookies and choc chip cookies. I made this and it is FANTASTIC! it’s rich and you can’t eat more than a couple of tablespoons, but it is delish. Make it for your superbowl party, everyone is going to love.
Slutty Brownies | The Whole Wheat
So simple… yet so addictive! I’m making these a second time this weekend. They were a crowd favorite with our bible study group and at my office! Thanks for sharing.
I made these last night but I added caramel because it came in the brownie box mix. I also added the extra oil & water suggested but I think I added too much of each. The end result? Uhm, the BEST ooey gooey brownies EVER! I cooked them for 45 minutes and they were still gooey, so that’s how they went to the Mom’s Night Out party I went too. They loved them. So I think I will continue to add too much water & oil and serve warm with ice cream. Thanks for the idea, They were great and different from the normal desserts I bring to parties. YUM!
I will make this for my love ones this coming valentines, but perhaps I’ll convert it into a “dark chocolate brownies”, then served along with my
here in pittsburgh we have a tradition at weddings called a ‘cookie table’. a table is set up near the coffee urn that is covered in cookies that the grandmothers, mothers, aunts, and anyone else who is enlisted makes and brings cookies (even if it’s a catered affair). cookie tables are found at wedding/baby showers, anniversaries and other parties. these would be a big hit on a cookie table!
I have seen this recipe pop up on Tasty Kitchen and every time, my mouth waters. I still haven’t tried it because they look so addicting, I’d probably make them 23 times (or more) too. I like that you made the full recipe (except for the oreos, of course) from scratch – this adds a sweeter and more personalized spin. Looks great!
They look luscious. Passing recipe to local coffee hangout with a creative baker. Hoping to try them out shortly. It would be suiscide for me to try to make them at home!
My mother has forbidden my from makeing these…I’m supposed to be dieting. Well…I’m making ‘em anyway! I’ll just be nice and share…maybe.
Add 1 cup graham cracker crumbs, blend and spread evenly in pan
I love this recipe – the cookie and brownie recipes are spot on. I’m wondering about variations now. I saw Golden Oreos at the grocery store, so I was wondering about a sugar cookie bottom, golden oreo, and what would go on top? Brownie? Blondie? I have no idea, so I’ll listen to whatever everyone has to say!
omg just reading this recipe.. seeing the pictures, made my mouth water and gave me the giggles. im literally shaking with excitement, i need to make these RIGHT NOW.
These are amazing! I, too, looked them up after hearing Jessica Simpson mention them. BUT, what I love the most is the amazing brownie recipe. I have tried for years to make gooey brownies from scratch and have never really gotten close. I will NEVER buy a brownie box mix again! Thank you!
so excited to make these this weekend!!!
An Open Letter to Jessica Simpson + Cheat Day Eats | Hot and Healthy Mom
My family loved the brownies. I think next time I will make them without the Oreos. I’m sure they will be just as awesome.
I saw these brownies on the Londoner and really wanted to make them. I decided to search around the web and see if anyone had made them from scratch. I found your recipe and made these yesterday. They are incredible!!! I’m an avid baker and not easily impressed by desserts, but your recipe for these are simple superb!
These look amazing! My family is gluten and dairy free. Do you have suggestions on how I could make these for my family? Not all recipes can be made gfdf, so thought I would ask you before I try it!
If you were to make just the brownies, how long would you bake at which temperature?? Thanks
Do you think this recipe could work in a 13×9 pan? Would you recommend using all of the cookie dough if you did that? And would that make the brownie layer too thin? I’m asking because both recipes seem like normal amounts for full recipes you would make if you were baking them alone. The pictures of your brownies look like they are pretty normal in height (and pretty insanely gooey and delicious!), but another blogger had pictures of this recipe in the 9×9 pan and they looked very tall! What would you recommend?
Would you be able to use brownie and cookie dough mixes?
Hi Gaby! This recipe is fabulous! I made them this morning with my sister. I did add one variation to the recipe: instead of chocolate chips in the cookie layer, we used mint-chocolate chips. Not really out of a creative moment- we just did not have normal chocolate chips. The mint chips add a really nice twist to these great brownies!
Next week we are going to make Knock-You-Naked Brownies- can’t wait!
hi there! I love how you beautifully display your recipes with lovely photos! you truly show the joy of baking from within. however, i’ve got a question. I tried the slutty brownies today and i realised that the top part of my brownies were burnt, but the bottom part was gooey and sinfully good. I use a convection microwave over and its maximum heat is 250 degree celcius. anyway, love the recipe none the less!
I had a similar issue where some of the cookie dough rose through the brownie mixture to the top but nobody had an issue with that. I’m a new blogger and I blogged about your brownies. I hope this is okay.
I made these today after finding the recipe yesterday and longing for them! Have made 3 batches; I chose to make the cookie base chocolate as well( Just to be sure they would have enough flavour!)
As a brownieholic, any brownie recipe I find becomes fair game and this DEFINITELY falls within the meaning of “fair”. It is bookmarked, pinned and shared! Will I make them? You betcha!
Loved these and so did everyone at work. Though next time I’ll halve the salt in both the dough and brownie mixture.
Oh Gaby! These were so good. I followed your recipe closely and they were the best cookie/brownie/thing I have ever tried. I loved them, my family and friends loved them too. Only problem – I keep being asked to make more!
Hi Stefani – thats the right conversion for the butter so 226 is good to go! Did you melt the butter? That could have make it a little oily. And if you use all the cookie dough, that will definitely affect the baking time. Do you have a smaller 9x9x9 pan? It really makes a difference in baking times depending on the pan size. Hope this helps!
I’m in a time crunch — could I use a tube of cookie dough and a box of brownie mix? Can’t wait to try. Thanks!
I made these recently and they came out really yummy. I did make a few revisions though. I used a combination of white and light brown sugar with the brownies and added melted chocolate in there as well. (Just because I wanted a really moist, fudgy brownie. Plus I really wanted a deeper chocolate flavor) I also added grated chocolate to the cookie dough (Yup, chocolate makes everything better) and walnuts! These were so sinfully delicious! Even before they were baked I can already tell they’d turn out really well. Thanks so much!! Everyone loved them! Next time, I’m gonna try a cream cheese filling instead of Oreos!
Wow! Maia, I love the way you think! Chocolate makes everything better and there is no such thing as enough…am going to try it your way…as soon as the temperature drops below 70 degrees or so…(or you send me some out of pity…LOL).
How can i make these healthier?
OMG im in the military and the only problem i see with the brownies is….. How the heck am i gonna fit into my uniform!… They look addictive i cant wait to try them and if it get fat ….. your coming to work out with me righ? ..HAHA
Tomorrow I am doing a make a wish foundation wish for a girl who has spent the last 6 years in hospitals. Her wish was to have her birthday party at the club I cook at. The cake she asked for was brownies. Me being the way I am wanted to do something less traditional. So to my satisfaction saw this recipe and decided that it would be perfect. I hope I was right. The chocolate I am using is a godiva chocolate. Wish me luck.
If I need these for Saturday morning but can’t make them Friday night, will they keep well if I make them on Thursday?
Everything was perfect and following your instructions until I place mold on the oven, 3 layers all in place.
when I make these the last 5min I put marshmallows and Carmel, then when I take them out of the oven I put chocolate chips. Yummmmmy
gaby, pleae tell me if i can put the nestles cookie dough thern a layer of oreos and a box of betty crocker triple fudge br4ownie mix and bake it in the oven for the time the brownies are cooked maybe 40 minutes. thanks so much.
Handle the Heat » Slutty Brownies
I am baking this at this very moment and the cookie dough has burst from under the brownie mix and is spilling over the sides! WHY!
This happened to me, too! Minus the spilling over the sides. I used a 9x9x9 pan. My best educated guess is we added too much of a leavening agent like the flour or baking powder. Maybe we measured those ingredients wrong? Either way, it still turned out delicious! It just looked a little funky lol
I made these last week for a party I went to because I wanted to test them out on a big group of people and get some feedback. I’ll admit that although I have a major sweet-tooth, I was a little scared they’d be too rich. I was pleasantly surprised. First off, they’re easy and fun to make; making all the batter from the recipe took under an hour, and they didn’t take too long to bake. Secondly, they taste AMAZING. They’re not overpowering at all, instead they’re the best dessert bar I’ve ever had (and I’ve had quite a few, lol). They were a huge hit at the party; everyone who tried one came back for more and the pan was empty long before the party was over. Thanks so much for sharing this awesome recipe, I’ll definitely make these again and again (and again).
how to make cannolis | Painting Lilies
has anyone made them with store bought cookie dough and box brownie mix?
I’ve made these with store bought brownie mix and sugar cookie dough to save time and they turned out really good, pretty much the same if I’d made them from scratch.
Those look absolutely delicious! One of my favourite kind of brownies are the double fudge ones my Mom makes whenever I come home from overseas travel. These are definitely slutty in a good sense
i love making this recipe! And this we are in the month of October and Halloween is right around the corner. i decided to use Halloween oreos! tastes the same and adds a little more color to this amazing slutty brownies!
I dont think the tin vs. glass pans would make a huge difference – although I do use tin plans in my kitchen. I would double check on the conversions since I’ve made these a ton of times and have never had them uncooked. I’ll see if I can do the metric conversions and add them to the post
I’ve had mine in the oven for an extra 15 minutes now – and the insides still aren’t done. they are runny and gooey inside. I made regular cookie dough, and used a boxed brownie mix for the sake of time. I am using a 9×9 metal pan, lined with foil and sprayed with Pam. Any thoughts why they won’t cook?
Hey! I’m not sure why they aren’t cooking. How long does the brownie batter mix say to bake for? My brownie recipe cooks a bit faster than the box ones do, so perhaps that’s part of it?
tin foil just makes it easy to lift out of the pan when you are ready to cut
Could we just use a brownie mix?
yup! brownie mix works
I am attempting to make these brownies with a box brownie mix. Because your recipe uses a 9×9 pan, should I cut the box brownie mix in half or can I use a 9×13 pan anyway and make the cookie dough part thinner?? Should I double the cookie portion of this recipe for a 9×13 pan?
im so excited to bake these for my friends birthday..i am just going to use store brownie mix and store cookie dough. will the cookies be burnt for cooking it for 45 mins?
I started making these and my brownie mix is a little lumpy and not as smooth and glossy as it usually is. Is it supposed to be that way?
Today is my birthday and I made these for myself for the first time and oh goodness they came out so perfect. I added swirls of whipped cream to each brownie when serving. Not only were they beautiful they were heavenly to eat
I made these both ways, from scratch and with the boxed mixes. SOOOOOO Good either way. I went a little crazy with my 4th batch for a cookie party: added Rolos, and marshmallows to the Oreo layer then topped with the brownie mix. They were super decadent and a big hit with the other partygoers.
I love the rolo addition!
Hey do you think it would be ok if i made the batters in the morning and then combined and cooked them at night?
My best friend’s mom and I have both made these and we have both had the same huge issue…the oreos take all the moisture from the brownies and cookie dough and you’re left with this hard dessert that the brownie completely falls apart on…not sure how to fix this or how everyone else is gettin such epic results but does anyone have any ideas on how to make the oreos not dry everything else out so much?
Hey Amanda! Are you using the homemade cookie and brownie recipe? I just did a step by step recipe for this on the peppermint slutty brownie post – you can take a look and see if I addressed your question there.
I tried to make these for a party using cookie and brownie mix just as a time saver and the brownie layer just would not cook. I used a square glass pan. I kept putting them back in the oven for at least another 20-30 minutes in intervals of 5-10 minutes and yet the middle of the brownie layer was still runny and undercooked. Do you have any idea why this happened? I can’t seem to figure it out!
Hey Taylor! I’ve used box brownie mix too when I’m in a pinch for time. And I mut say, the glass pan will make a bit of a difference in baking time but it shouldn’t be 30 minutes worth. Do you have another pan you can try – or a bigger glass pan, and then the brownies would be a bit thinner? Let me know! I’m happy to work through it with you until they are perfect!!
I added carmel pieces ntop of the oreos and used a Marie Calender brownie mix and Nestle toll house resipe for Chocolate chip cookes. Totally delish and called for milk and lots of it!
Next time you give them a go – take them out of the oven at the given time, and let them cool. The brownies continue to bake a bit once they are out of the oven due to the residual heat… and then refrigerate them once they have cooled to room temp to firm everything up! Keep me posted for sure
do I really need to make the brownie batter via sauce pan or can I just mix it normally?
you just need to melt the butter – so if you melt it in the microwave, you can mix it all normally if you want!
Step #8 is a bit confusing… How do you press down cookie dough to the tin foil when its liquidy? Won’t the oreos sink through as well as the brownie mix? Thanks
Is it okay to use Ghirardelli brownie mix and my own cookie dough recipe as long as it’s not liquidy?
The only decadent thing missing is caramel…but would that make them more than slutty? lol
Is it necessary to add the tinfoil to the baking pan? Or is it okay to just grease the pan?
you can just grease it – but the tin foil makes it easier to pull out! Here is a step by step guide if you want
To make these brownies even sluttier, how about a bit of a glaze? I have a plan to make these to share with my co-workers (am retiring soon), and am thinking that a glaze would make them dead slutty!
So do you have to make the brownie and cookie dough mix or can you buy em
hey sage! you can totally buy them if that’s easier for you. I prefer my homemade mixes – but I’ve done it both ways and it works for sure!
my 9×9 pan is currently on loan to a friend, will these be fine to make in a 9×13? How would you suggest altering it so it would work? Thanks!
will it make a difference if I used nestle cookie dough and brownie mix? instead of doing it from scratch?
hey chelsea! yes it will make a difference because the brownie mix makes a large quantity than why my homemade recipe calls for. You can still totally do it – but you might want to use a 9×13 pan since the brownie mixture makes a lot. And it will take a little longer to bake – so you’ll have to keep checking
Well I made last night -I used a box mix for bownies cuz I was pressed for time -came out raw, everytime I chacked the brownie, -not alittle raw alot, so I had to keep adding more time by the time brownies are done the cookie dough was super hard -I gotta cut off or should I say saw off bottom layer to eat the brownie -I m gonna try this recipe again but in a 13×9 not the 9x 9 pan that’s recommend -way to thick.
hey gigi – the homemade brownie recipe for these makes a smaller quantity than if you use a box mix – so that will absolutely affect the baking time. If you use a box mix – you would be better off in a 9×13 pan because the brownies will be so thick which will take longer to bake and will make the cookie layer crispy and overbaked
