    C. Boiling Water

  • 1

    C. Quick cooking oats

  • 1/2

    C. Butter

  • 1

    C. Brown sugar, firmly packed

  • 1

    C. Sugar

  • 2

    Eggs

  • 1 1/2

    C. Flour, sifted

  • 1

    tsp. Baking soda

  • 1/2

    tsp. Cinnamon

  • 1/4

    tsp. Nutmeg

  • 1/2

    tsp. Salt

Directions

Cream butter and sugar thoroughly. Beat in eggs. Pour boiling water over oats and mix well. Stir soaked oatmeal into butter mixture. Sift together flour and remaining ingredients. Stir into oatmeal mixture. Turn into greased 13x9 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes. Cool in pan. Spread on topping: 8 T. Margarine 1/3 C. Brown Sugar 1/3 C. Light cream or Milk 2/3 C. White Sugar 1 1/3 C. Flake Coconut 1 1/3 C. Chopped nuts 1/2 tsp. Vanilla Mix and bring to a bubbling boil. Mix thoroughly and spread over cake.
