Ingredients

  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon cumin, ground
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 3 tablespoons chili powder

Preparation

Step 1

Combine all into a small container, shake to mix. Store in a cool dry area for 6 months.

This recipe yields the equivalent of two packets of seasoning mix--enough for one large batch of chili or two regular size batches. Use as much or as little as you'd like, according to your taste preferences.

Serving Size: Makes 12 one teaspoon servings

Know your ingredients. The cayenne will bring in a back heat to any dish, meaning the heat will arrive last within the tasting process. Paprika brings in the smoke flavor, and garlic will awake your sense of smell.
