Buttermilk Refrigerator Rolls

Ingredients

  • 1 cake yeast or 1 package dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1/2 cup melted shortening
  • 4 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon + 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon soda
  • 2 cups buttermilk

Preparation

Step 1

Dissolve yeast in warm water. Let stand for 5 minutes. Stir in melted shortening. Combine dry ingredients in small bowl. Add dry ingredients and buttermilk to yeast mixture. Mix well. Knead gently. Shape into balls and turn into a greased bowl. Cover dough and refrigerate until needed. (Dough will keep for 1 week). Shape dough into rolls.

Place on greased baking sheet. Let rise. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes or until lightly browned.
