  • 1 1 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 2⁄3 2⁄3 cup brown sugar
  • 2 2⁄3 2⁄3 cup butter

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350°F.

In a large bowl, combine 1 1/2 cups flour, 1 1/2 tablespoons white sugar, salt, and baking powder. Cut in shortening until the mixture is crumbly.

Whisk together egg yolks and water, then mix into flour until the dough forms into a ball. Roll out to fit the bottom of a 10 x 15 inch pan. Transfer crust to the pan and evenly press into the bottom.

In a large bowl, combine apples, lemon juice, 2 tablespoons flour, 1 3/4 cups white sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon. Pour filling into prepared crust and dot with 2 tablespoons butter.

In a medium bowl, combine 1 cup flour, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, brown sugar, and 2/3 cup butter. Cut in butter until the mixture is crumbly, then sprinkle over the apples.

Bake for 60 minutes or until topping is golden brown.
