Kathy's Cranberry Apple Pie

Kathy and Ashleigh made this Thanksgiving 2010 as an option to their traditional apple pie. Many people liked it even better than their awesome apple pie.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. apple pie spice
  • 1/8 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp. lemon juice
  • 4 cups sliced, peeled tart apples
  • 2 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 1 pastry for double-crust pie (9 inches)
  • 2 tbs. butter

Preparation

Step 1

combine first 7 ingredients. Add apples and cranberries and toss gently. Line a 9-inch pie plate with pastry. Add filling; dot with butter. Place pastry on top; cut vents; flute edges.

Bake at 425 for 10 minutes; 350 for 50 minutes.
