Preparation
Step 1
Slice off about ½” or so of onion & finely chop. Reserve 4 TB chopped onion for hamburger meat. Heat butter in a large pan over medium-high heat. Slice remaining onion in half then thinly slice. Add to the butter & sauté for a few minutes. Add mushrooms & thyme. Cook until mushrooms are browned. Season with salt & pepper. Add beef stock or broth & white wine & reduce heat to low. Let mushroom mixture simmer, stirring occasionally, until thickened a little bit, about 10 minutes. In a large bowl, combine beef, Worcestershire, reserved 4 TB chopped onion, Tony’s, pepper, & garlic powder. Form into 4 patties. Grill burger patties to your liking (I say this because Cole grilled them & I don’t use the grill!). Assemble burgers as you like, topping with the onion & mushroom mixture. If you have any mushroom & onion mixture leftover, put them on a grilled cheese the next day for the BEST GRILLED CHEESE EVER!!!!!
