Omelettes in a Bag

This recipe is good for breakfast or brunch when all your family is together and no one has to wait for their special omelette. Everyone gets involved in the process - a great conversation piece!

Ingredients

  • Any omelette fixings such as:
  • Eggs (2 per guest)
  • cheeses, ham, onion, green pepper, canned mild green chile peppers, tomato, salsa, spinach, asparagus - Let your imagination run wild!
  • Quart freezer bags.

Preparation

Step 1

Have guests write their name on a quart-sized freezer bag with permanent marker.
Crack 2 eggs (large or extra large) into the bag and shake to combine them.
Do not use more than 2 eggs per bag.
Be sure the yolks are blended with the whites.
Put out a variety of omelette fixings.
Each guest adds prepared ingredients of choice to their bag and shakes.
Make sure to get the air out of the bag and zip it up.
Place the bags into rolling boiling water for exactly 13 minutes.
You can usually cook 6-8 omelettes in a large pot. For more, make another pot of boiling water.
Open the bags and the omelette will roll out easily. Be prepared for guests to be amazed.

Serve with fresh fruit and coffee cake and/or breakfast meats.
