Chocolate Puff Pastry

By

Ingredients

  • I package rolled puff pastry (store bought or make your own if you prefer)
  • 1 1 1 large dark chocolate bar
  • 1 1 1 egg yolk
  • crushed almonds
  • powdered sugar

Preparation

Step 1

Unroll the thawed puff pastry onto a flat surface. Then place chocolate bar at one end a few inches from the edge. You want the same amount of pastry on either side so slice off any extra and place it aside.

Cut angled slices about 1/2 inch wide into the pastry the entire way down side of chocolate bar on both sides. Cut off the corners of the pastry entirely, folding the remaining top and bottom piece in onto the chocolate. Fold in the angled slices, one from each side, overlapping all the way down to create a lattice finish. Tidy up the ends if you need to.

Place prepared pastry on a cookie sheet that has been lightly greased with butter.

Place egg yolk in a bowl, slightly beaten then brush onto pastry.

Once you have your egg yolk brushed on, sprinkle with sliced almonds (also crush some of them and sprinkle those as well)

Bake at 400 for about 20 minutes

Remove from over. Let it cool for a few minutes, sprinkle with icing sugar if desired and then slice it open! DELISH!! Serve immediately!
