    eggs

    stick butter

  • 3/4

    cup sugar

  • 1 1/2

    tsp baking powder

  • 1

    tsp vanilla

  • juice of half a fresh lemon

  • 1/4

    tsp salt

  • 2 3/4

    cup flour (approx)

Directions

Cream butter and sugar in large mixing bowl. Blend in eggs one at a time and beat until fluffy. Add vanilla and lemon juice. Gradually add all dry ingredients a little at a time. Turn onto floured surface and knead using more flour if dough is sticky. When dough becomes tight and shiny let it rest for a few minutes while you clean up. Heat oven to 350. Shape dough into long rolls (pinky size in diameter) a few inches long. Make loops crossing two ends over each other and pressing gently. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 15 minutes until nice and brown. Double or triple the recipe as needed. These cookies disappear quickly. Serve with coffee.
