  • 5 5 5 cups flour
  • 1 1 1 cup sugar
  • 4 4 4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 1/2 1/2 lb butter
  • 1/8 1/8 1/8 tsp salt
  • 2 2 2 tbsp Crisco shortening
  • 2 2 2 tsp baking soda
  • 4 4 4 eggs
  • 1/2 1/2 1/2 pint sour cream
  • 1 1 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 2 2 cans pie filling
  • 1/2 1/2 1/2 lb ground walnuts mixed with sugar

Step 1

preheat oven to 350. combine dry ingredients; add Crisco, butter, eggs, sour cream, and vanilla. divide into 3 equal parts. roll out 1 part and place in bottom of rimmed cookie sheet. spread 3/4 of nut mixture on first layer. roll out second portion of dough and place on nut mixture. spread filling on this layer then sprinkle with remaining nut mixture. roll out third portion. cut into strips and place to form a lattice pattern on top.
bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes until lightly golden brown.
