- 3 3 3 eggs, beaten
- 1/2 1/2 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 1/4 1/4 tsp salt
- 3 3 3 cups milk, scalded
- 1 1 1 tsp vanilla
Mix eggs, sugar, and salt. Slowly add milk and vanilla while continuing to mix.
Pour into buttered custard cups. Sprinkle with nutmeg.
Preheat oven to 350.
Set in a shallow pan on a paper towel. Pour hot water into pan about 1 inch deep.
Bake at 350 for 45 minutes. Test by inserting a knife into custard neat the edge. If it comes out clean, the custard will be firm.
Coconut custard - add 1/2 cup shredded coconut and OMIT nutmeg.
