- Beef Short-rib ( or sliced beef) 500 gm
- Onion 1/2 onion
- Water 200 ml
- Kikkoman soy sauce 60 ml
- Mirin 60 ml
- Sake 60 ml
- Sugar 2 tbsp
- Dashi powder 1 packet (5g)

Step 1
Method:
1. Cut onion thinly.
2. Slice beef into thin strips ( it will be easier to slice if you freeze the beef for 1-2 hours before cutting it). If you are using sliced beef packet from the supermarket you can skip this step.
3. Heat up a saute pan, add in measured water, Kikkoman soy sauce, mirin, sake, sugar, dashi powder and last is onion. Bring everything to the boil then add in your sliced beef. Bring to the boil again then simmer until the beef is cooked.
4. Get your steamed rice ready and your Gyudon is done.
5. You can enjoy Gyudon with a Onsen Tamago ( poached egg) for a perfect combination.
