Ingredients

  • 1 (10 lb) whole turkey, neck and giblets removed
  • 4 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 2 tbsp seasoned salt
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 (12 oz) cans of cola or other carbonated beverage
  • 1 apple, quartered
  • 1 onion, quartered
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1 tbsp black pepper

Step 1

Preheat smoker to 225-250°.

Rinse turkey under cold water, pat dry. Rub the crushed garlic over the outside of the turkey, sprinkle with seasoned salt. Place in disposable roasting pan. Fill the turkey cavity with butter, cola, apple, onion, garlic powder, salt and black pepper. Cover loosley with foil.

Smoke for 10 hours, or until internal temp reaches 180° when measured in the thickest part of the thigh. Baste the turkey every 1-2 hours with the juices from the bottom of the roasting pan.
