Ingredients
- 2 sticks of butter, softened
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 4 cups unbleached flour
- 1 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 3/4 teaspoon ginger
- 1 1/2 teaspoon cloves
- 1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Preparation
Step 1
In a large bowl cream both sticks of butter. Beat in sugar, until light and fluffy. Beat in molasses, eggs (one at a time) and salt.
In a separate bowl sift the flour, soda, ginger, cloves and cinnamon. Stir this mixture into the butter mixture until incorporated.
Pinch a portion of dough and roll into 1 1/2 inch balls. Roll balls in sugar and place 2 inches apart on ungreased pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 13 minutes. Let cool.
