Chicken, Barbecued, Hoisin

Ingredients

  • 1 fryer or broiler chicken, cut up (about 3 1/2 pounds)
  • 1/2 cup hoisin sauce
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons rice wine or Sake
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Rinse the chicken. Pat dry and place in a large bowl.

In a small bowl,combine hoisin sauce, soy sauce, rice wine, sugar, ketchup and garlic. pour over the chicken and mix lightly to coat. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.

Arrange the chicken, skin-side down, on a baking sheet line with aluminum foil.

Bake in a 375 degree oven for 30 minutes. Turn over and bake another 30 minutes, until crisp and brown.

Make 4 servings.

Serve hot with your favorite potatoes or rice and vegetables.
