Ingredients
- 2 (No. 300) cans navy beans
- 2 slices bacon
- 1/4 cup chopped green pepper
- 1/4 cup chopped onion
- 1/2 cup chopped carrots
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 (No. 300) can tomatoes (Cut up)
- 1 cup water
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1/8 tsp. red pepper
- 1/2 tsp. sugar
- 2 tsp. parsley flakes
Preparation
Step 1
Fry bacon; set aside. Leave about 1 TBS drippings in pan and add green pepper, onion, carrots, garlic. Cook 5 minutes; add tomatoes and water; stir in beans along with salt, pepper, sugar. Simmer 30 minutes to 1 hour. Add crumbled bacon and parsley flakes. Cook 5 minutes more.
