Ingredients
- 1/2 cup lukewarm water
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 quart milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 6 tsp salt
- 7 to 9 cups flour
- 3 pkgs dry yeast
Preparation
Step 1
Dissolve yeast in water.
Stir in shortening
Add remaining ingredients
Knead batter till dough is mixed and smooth
Cover and let rise till double in bulk
Punch down and pull off pieces to pat into biscuits
Drop into hot oil and fry till brown on one side. Turn and cook on other side. Drain and serve hot.
Note: Have oil slightly hotter than 350.
If too hot biscuits will be soggy.
