Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Preparation

Step 1

Sift flour with baking powder, baking soda, and salt; set aside.

In large bowl of electric mixer, at medium speed, beat butter, sugar, and eggs until light and fluffy.

At low speed, beat in sour cream and vanilla until smooth.

Gradually beat in flour mixture until well combined. Refrigerate dough for at least one hour.

Preheat oven to 375. Lightly grease cookies sheets.

Either drop by rounded teaspoons onto prepared cookie sheets, or form small balls with the dough for more evenly rounded cookies.

If desired, sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar combination before baking.
Do not sprinkle on a topping if you want to frost the cookies.

Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden-brown. Cool completely before icing.
