Soda Bread

Ingredients

  • 4 cup flour
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 3/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 2 Tbs caraway seeds
  • 2 egg
  • 1 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • Servings: 12

Preparation

Step 1

1. Stir dry ingredients, raisins and caraway seeds together. Fork blend eggs and buttermilk, then add to dry ingredients. Stir until a sticky batter is formed. Scrape batter into a well floured surface and knead lightly. Shape batter into a ball. Place in a round non stick casserole which has been sprayed with cooking spray. Mark a cross in the center using a sharp knife. Bake uncovered in a preheated 350 F oven 1 hr and 15 min. Wait 10-15 minutes before attempting to remove bread from the casserole, then allow bread to cool on a wire rack.
