Ingredients
- 1 onion chopped
- 2 cloves minced garlic
- 900 ml box of chicken broth (4 cups)
- 4 cups water (just refill the chicken broth box)
- 1 can diced tomatoes (28oz)
- 7 stalks celery, chopped
- 5 carrots, chopped
- 1/2 cup red lentils
- 1/4 cup barley
- 1 tsp italian seasoning
- 2 tsp thyme
- 2 bay leaves
- optional
- chicken or hot italian sausage (cooked and chopped)
Preparation
Step 1
saute onions and garlic, add all the other ingredients and simmer for 1.5 hours, until barley is cooked.
Serve hot.
